Apple’s iOS 8.4 brought an unpleasant surprise for many music fans: Home Sharing for music disappeared. The change means you can no longer share iTunes libraries with iPods and iPhones on the same network — though the feature still works for videos.
However, Apple’s senior VP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue claims the feature is coming back in iOS 9.

In some ways, Home Sharing for music was replaced by Apple Music’s Family Membership, at a cost — $14.99 a month. However, as explained here, Family Membership is not a complete replacement for the free feature.
Apple revealed iOS 9 during its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, promising a smarter Siri, battery enhancements, better multitasking for tablets and other improvements. The update will be hitting iDevices in the fall.
